Exploring: Loch Lomond

As per usual, when I am at university I am totally M.I.A on my blog, but I thought I'd share this quick post from a couple of weekends ago when the weather was a little bit nicer. A couple of the girls from uni went on a road trip ( okay it's not that far from Glasgow about 40 mins, but road trip sounds much cooler) to Loch Lomond. Although it look dreary and grey (it was) it's such a beautiful place and we didn't exactly pick the best time of year to go, but sometimes you just have to get in a car and go explore a new place. It was even my English flatmate's first experience of a loch -it's not a bloody lake okay. So yeh grab some friends and go explore somewhere new, the view will be worth it, I promise.

Day in the life: Student Style

So I thought I would take you guys around with me and show you exactly how much hanging around students actually do (it's a lot).

8,30 am Wake up. And then fall straight back asleep. Good start to the day.

8,45am Actually wake up.

9am Breakfast, which today was porridge and honey *mouth waters*.

9,15- 9,45am Get ready and leave for uni (yes we do actually do some work us students).

10-11am French lecture, boring grammar stuff yawn.

11-12 pm History lecture on native north America, which I actually really enjoy learning about especially the difference in culture.

12-1pm Go back to the flat for lunch, today I had soup and flat bread d e l i c i o u s.

1-2pm Back to uni for History of Art lecture, in I kid you not the hottest sweatiest museum basement, nice.

2-4pm As it is such a beaut day I grabbed some of my friends and headed to the Botanic Gardens with a cup of coffee to bask in the sun, it's a rare sighting in Scotland so it was quite the spectacle.

4,30-6pm Gym time, ngl thought about skipping it but persevered. I always feel so much better after a good work out, I mainly do a mix of cardio and toning -when I can be bothered that is-.

6-7pm Tea time (finally) today I had lamb and potato curry which was super tasty.

7-8,30pm Time to actually do some uni work and catch up on my readings for the day.

8,30-10pm Chill time with my flat mates, played some cards, listened to some music and laughed a bunch.

11pm Zzzzz.

*Disclaimer*
If you were slightly shocked about how busy my day seems to be for a university student don't be alarmed, this is pretty busy and not exactly a typical day for me but it is much more interesting than my boring routine. Also the good weather provided us with an excuse to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors yay.

The 'Lob'

Hey guys, I'm back at you with a little update post: I cut all my hair off. Not literally, but I whacked off a huge chunk of it and this is the end result. Now, I have never ever had hair above shoulder length (except maybe when I was a baby for all you smart arses out there) so this is a big change for me. It is so bloody short but I'm kinda in love with it. It's a lot easier to maintain and my hair feels thick and healthy, although I do have to admit I do miss having the option to throw my hair up in a hop knot or a pony tail every so often. Anyways I would love to know what you guys think, should I keep it? Grow it out?

Travels to turkey

I spent the last 2 weeks on a family vaycay in Kalkan, Turkey with my mum, dad and younger brother. The weather was amazing and I finally got to put on some of the summer clothes that I had bought at the start of the season - summer in Scotland has been virtually non existent this year sigh-. It had it all from beach clubs, boat trips, water taxis and can we just take a minute to talk about the food, omg. I never had a bad meal the whole 2 weeks we were away although I feel like I have put on about half a stone in weight but tbh it isn't really my fault the bread they put on the table before your meal is literally calling my name no lie. Anyways, I hope you are all having a good summer even if the weather in the UK isn't quite on par with the Med it's still been pretty good right??

It's all in the eyes

I was playing about with my eyeliner today and ended up going for a 60's twiggy inspired look that I thought I would share on here. I used a liquid liner to create a normal cat-eyed flick, but instead of leaving it there like I normally would, I decided to draw a line from the end of the flick to the middle of my eye, creating a double liner effect. I then applied my usual mascara and hey presto (is this still a saying?) I was finished. This is a really quick and easy look to recreate, that I think would be perfect for a night out look, and one I will definitely be wearing next time I am hitting the town. Just a quick post from me today. See y'all soon.

fun facts

Hey hey hey,

I thought I would do a fun post to get back into the swing of things and write a little bit about myself so you can get to know me a little bit better and what I'm about. So if you don't want to read my ramblings I would suggest ending your browse here; but if like me you are a nosey little bugger (isn't everyone? no?- ok) here are the basics.

1. My mum got the name Anya from the Audrey Hepburn film the Roman Holiday, which I think is pretty neat.

2. I have a brother who is 2 years younger than me called Ethan, and yes he was named after Tom Cruise in mission impossible (mum watched a lot of films okay).

3. I will be 19 years old on the 14th of August (meaning I was born in 1996- 90's babyyy).

4. I'm about 5'3 in height and have always been the shorty in my group of friends. Okay the shortest in my whole year group but whatever, good things come in small packages and all that.

5. I was born in Reading, England although my whole family is Scottish and I have lived in Scotland since I was 4 years old so I class myself as a fully fledged Scot (och aye).

6. I was brought up in a small town on the East coast of Scotland right in the countryside.

7. I study history at the University of Glasgow, and I will be going into my second out of four years in September.

8. I studied Art, French, History, Modern Studies and English at higher (the Scottish equivalent to A-levels).

9. I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Mac and I kid you not he is the cutest dog ever, like seriously not being bias but he totally is.

10. I passed my driving test this year, and I currently drive/ steal my mums mini cooper. *I say I can drive but I'm probably the worst person at parking a car in the country.

11. The day I passed my driving test I was later rushed to A and E with a perforated appendix which had to be removed the next day. Yeh I passed my driving test with appendicitis no biggie.

12. I love travelling, and can't wait to explore more of Europe, Asia and Central America in particular.

13. I think I'm addicted to watching beauty and fashion gurus on youtube.

14. I work part time in a coffee shop near my home town whilst i'm back for the holidays, and I have worked there since I was 14.

15. My obsession with Beyonce is getting increasingly out of hand.

16. My favourite youtube is SunbeamsJess, I love her personal style and she is a real style inspo for me.

17. My style is always evolving and I have always had a keen interest in fashion, I have gone from Avril Lavigne teenage angst to wannabe Rihanna.

18. My music taste is varied but RnB and hiphop seem to be what I gravitate towards most, fave artists including Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd.

19. I'd love to work in the fashion industry some day or in the media as I love the fusion between art and english.

20. I'm ridiculously bad with vegetables, that mature stage in my life when I start eating salad has still not hit me yet. Load me up with carbs and meat please and thank you.

21. I'm deffo a shoes over handbag kinda gal.

22. I think I'm addicted to buying trainers.

23. I am obsessed with reality tv shows, Made in Chelsea, The Only Way is Essex, Love Island and anything Kardashian- judge me.

24. I also love Game of Thrones, if they keep killing off my faves there is going to be some serious emotional damage caused.

25. Channing Tatum in Magic Mike. That is all.

Barcelona

Next stop on my travels this summer was Barcelona with my friend from university for a couple of days. We stayed in Generator hostel which I would definitely recommend to other young travellers, it was very clean and really nice for the price we paid, definitely no need for hotels. We did some of the typical touristy things such as Parc Guell, Las Ramblas and visited the Sagrada Familia, but we also did some day trips to different towns nearby such as Girona where we explored the medieval city walls and cathedral and Figueres where we went to the Salvador Dali museum. I think I'm slightly in love with the city and would go back in an instant. Barcelona I miss you, hope you feel the same way about me.

Dubrovnik

First stop on my travels this summer was exploring the old walled city of Dubrovnik. From geeing out over game of thrones to chilling by the pool the trip was amazing, although short and sweet. So here is a few snaps of my stay. Enjoy.

Back with a vengeance

I really have no excuses for how long it has ben since my last post but here goes my long list of excuses to make my absence slightly more acceptable;

I have been busy finishing my second semester of first year at university (managed to pass my exams woohoo) which took up the majority of my time, also passed my drying test and managed to get a bout of appendicitis and have my appendix removed through emergency surgery lol. But all in all first year has been great and I'm looking forward to heading back to Glasgow for second year in September but for right now I'm enjoying summer and taking it as it comes.

Positive people.

Hi guys, sorry I have been so M.I.A recently but I took a massive break over the Christmas holidays after the stress of university exams just to chill and be with family and friends. But now I'm back in the swing of things at uni again I'm going to do my best to start blogging regularly again.

Now, I'm back with a slightly different post and quite an upsetting one at that. But I figured, the more people that can see this, the better so here it goes. A girl in the year below me at the high school I attended has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is fundraising for a children's hospice that has helped her and her family through this horrible time. I can't even begin to imagine how she is coping with this, but she is doing so in the best way possible, living life to the fullest in the time she has been given. She has a constant smile on her face and really makes you appreciate what you have, and makes all the little things in life that bug you or get under your skin seem totally and utterly insignificant.

So if you could find it in you to donate anything that would be really super.
