So I haven't posted on here in ages and ages but I was caught up with uni course work and exams ((which I have now finished woo)) and just life in general really, but I'm back and I'll be trying to post more regularly again. So yeh, as the title suggests I have now finished my first semester of first year of university which has flown by. In September I moved out of my family home into Halls of Residence, where I knew absolutely no-one. Now I class some of these people as my best friends- crazy huh? A lot has changed over the past few months, but I'm a firm believer in 'everything happens for a reason' -I'm a sucker for a cliché- and as for now, life is pretty darn good. I just thought I'd post this little update instead of jumping straight back into the normal blog posts, to explain my absence. I had good reason I promise. Here's some snaps of first semester, from freshers to food to fireworks and halloween we packed a lot in to our first months in Glasgow, here's to plenty more things to come.

One lovely blog award
Sup guys'
So the lovely Rachael over at http://caseysclosetuk.blogspot.co.uk has nominated me to do this award, which is great as I'm still a total newbie to blogging with a mere 10 posts. I'm honestly surprised//ecstatic that one person is reading my blog, I seriously ramble on and on I'm not sure how you can put up with me. There I go rambling on again ((sorry!!))
Below are the rules so if I have nominated you, or you're not sure what to do then here you go;
- You must display the award logo at the top of the post!
- You must thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their blog in your post!
- You must add this set of rules to your post so that your nominees will know what to do!
- You must add 7 facts about yourself into the post (yes more facts haha)
- You must nominate 15 other blogs and leave links to each of them in your post!
- You must let the people who you have nominated know that they've been nominated!
- You must follow back the person who nominated you on GFC (I don't use this) and Bloglovin
So here I go with my 7 facts...
1) I'm currently in my first year ((and first semester)) at the University of Glasgow, I'm currently studying History, History of Art and Politics as I am a first year I take 3 subjects, and if all goes to plan I will graduate in 2018.
2) I'm a reality TV addict. You name it I watch it; Made in Chelsea, The Only Way is Essex and anything by the Kardashians. No shame.
3) I still have no idea what I want to do as a career, and that's ok. There is plenty of time for me to figure that out later, for now I'm just enjoying university which is already flying by. But at the moment I would love to work in the media or in fashion industry.
4) I'm currently living in a big city, however I'm a real country girl at heart. I grew up ((and only just moved away from)) the sea and the countryside, it's a real contrast and I love the buzz of the city, but I really appreciate the sea breeze in my hair and the smell of the farmers fields when I'm home.
5) My dog is the cutest dog in the whole world. I kid you not.
6) I've only been to one festival; 2012 T in the Park which was insane. Can't wait to add more to the list.
7) I have such a varied music taste- rap to rock to cheesy pop. You name it and I probably like it.
Okay so now I nominate;

Gretel is that you?
Recently I have been playing around with different things to do with my hair, and I decided to share this one with you guys. Now, this isn't a particularly new style or anything, but it's definitely out of my 'comfort' zone and I quite like the end result. It keeps my hair off my face (and more importantly my hair is no longer attached to my lipgloss) on those windy Scottish days that we will be getting plenty of now the seasons have changed, yet is a little bit different to the typical top knot or ponytail. Of course I'm not claiming to be anything of a hair 'pro' if anything I am the complete opposite, therefore meaning this is the perfect hairstyle for those of you like me who just can't get the hang of a fiddly fishtail plait.

Glasgow grub
Today I checked out the 'Hanoi Bike Shop' for some grub. It's a Vietnamese style restaurant, serving things like Dim Sum and Raman, and I've got to say it was pretty damn good. If you are in the West End area of Glasgow, I would definitely recommend popping for the quirky layout, good honest food and the chill vibe, it's just off the Byres Road so if you're around you should deffo hit it up. Try the speciality coffee (pictured above) made with condensed milk- the only way I could describe it would have to be heaven in a glass- yeh it was that good. Hope you guys are having a good Sunday, see y'all soon.

HeforShe
I know I have already posted tonight, but I just feel like this issue cannot be ignored. Today I watched Emma Watson deliver a strong message in a beautifully presented manner. Her message was simple, men and women should be equal. Her words truly inspired me and if you have not already watched the speech I would really recommend that you do (I have left the link at the bottom of this post). She is right when she says that 'feminist' has become a negative word, for I too would class myself as a feminist but only in secret as I am scared of what people would say due to the negative connotations surrounding it. But why should I care/ be scared of what they think? I should be proud to be a feminist and from now onwards I will be. This is a slightly different tone to my usual blog posts, but I feel like I needed to say something, and this is the perfect space to do so.

Fresh to Death
So I've been a little MIA recently on my blog, but I do have a good excuse. I was busy attending my freshers week at Glasgow University, which has been a crazy but amazing experience. I have met a ton of great people, moved out of my family home and into halls and partied a bit too hard (I have diagnosed myself with freshers flu- I think I may be dying ngl). So now Freshers is over the real work begins, which I have to say I'm strangely looking forward to (I know I'm weird alright). I'm looking forward to eating something other than pasta and dominos takeouts and getting into more of a routine here at Glasgow. But yeh, that was freshers. Here's some pics of the my week, and I'll be seeing you back here shortly.

Monochrome Madness
I thought I would do a little outfit of the day post for you. Today I'm wearing black and white gingham 'Joni' jeans from Topshop, an ordinary black sweater also from Topshop, a black leather rucksack again from Topshop (I kinda love Topshop ok, it's a real problem), my sunglasses are Rayban but I'm not sure of the model and red Doc Marten booties, which you can't see in the photos. I was playing around with effects on my camera and thought the shots came out pretty cool in black and white- so here they are. Enjoy!

Art Exhibition
During my sixth (and final) year of high school, I chose to do Advanced Higher Art as I have always loved art and textiles. Even though it was a lot of work, I really enjoyed this class, after doing every level of art possible in school, this was definitely the hardest but most enjoyable. I loved the fact that this year we were sorta left to do whatever the hell we wanted, no restrictions like we had in other years. Not gonna lie, it was a lot of hard work, and what felt like endless hours spent in the art department. However I came out of it with an A- holla- and I basically thought I would post a few pictures of my work on here, as the exhibition at the school is this week. Hope you enjoy.
These pictures are just a few from my portfolio, of the costumes I designed and made for my project. My project had the theme of 'Botanical Dance'- yes I made that a thing- and was designed with stage production and theatre use in mind.
**DISCLAIMER**
please excuse my horrific poses, I hate being in front of the camera and much prefer to be behind it, however a girl gotta do what a girl gotta do.

Lazy Saturday
Today I attempted to make the most of the last glimpses of the Scottish sunshine and went for a long walk in the countryside where I live, ending up, of course, in a pub- in true British fashion. As for my plans tonight- curry and Xfactor obviously. Living life large.

LDN
Recently I spent 3 days down in the capital, and thought I would share a few snaps on here. I did most of your typical touristy 'Scot in London' type things, like Buckingham palace, Trafalgar Square and the London Eye which were great but I actually enjoyed exploring Camden Town, visiting the Tate and wondering around Kensington and Chelsea more as it felt a little more of the authentic London experience. London definitely has that 'too cool for school' sorta vibe to it, it isn't too try hard. The street style is so unique, I could sit and people watch all afternoon and not get tired of it- people express themselves in the craziest ways, but in London anything goes and it is this mentality of not taking fashion too seriously which I feel puts London on the map as a fashion capital, it may not have the impeccable Italian tailoring of Milan, effortless Parisian chic or New York cool but everyone loves a bit of the London quirk.
